The faithful gathered Sunday for the Entertainment Tonight/People bash at St. Vibiana (downtown's former archdiocese cathedral built in 1876) following the Emmycast. There was plenty of Emmy hardware about with winners like Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Toni Collette (The United States of Tara), and Matthew Weiner (Mad Men creator) in the house. The awards show at Nokia Theatre was looooong (three hours) but loaded with new bells and whistles for a much-needed update. Neil Patrick Harris also proved to be the best host in ages. After everyone thanked the writers and Lorne Michaels, they hit the Gov Ball before heading to ET/People. Mary J. Blige sang some tunes, DJ Samantha Ronson spun, and Street's Susan Feniger supplied the vittles at the hallowed location. As Cranston said earlier when he accepted his trophy, "I feel like Cinderfella."
